Why Cualtura?

Introducing Gloria, the CEO and Founder of Cualtura. Gloria is a workplace practitioner who delves into the complexities of LatinX First Generation Professionals (FGPs) and their challenges amidst capitalistic work expectations. With a unique blend of personal, professional, and academic experiences, she is revolutionizing how we approach the analysis of workplace policies, processes, and frameworks.

As an FGP navigating white-collar environments, Gloria has encountered burnout while striving to keep up with her peers. However, she has come to recognize that the key lies not in merely catching up but in identifying and addressing the underlying systemic barriers that have long hindered the success of many FGPs. She encourages exploring these deep-rooted obstacles to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for all FGPs.

My Story

Gloria’s upbringing in South Central Los Angeles as a child of Guatemalan immigrants has shaped her profound understanding of workplace environments. From a young age, she experienced the contrast of power, class, and race while observing her mom working as a house cleaner, which later led her to recognize similar systemic patterns in white-collar jobs. This realization fueled her to create coaching programs focused on the Servant Work Mentality, a mindset rooted in serving others but often influenced by colonization.

From her personal experiences and professional achievements, Gloria recognizes how her low-socioeconomic background and past traumas offer unique perspectives that can enhance work environments for individuals and organizations. However, despite feeling welcomed professionally from a diversity lens, she faced challenges as a First Generation Professional in her professional surroundings, where her behavioral responses weren’t fully understood.

After years of consulting on Human Resources policies, frameworks, and programs, Gloria leveraged her Industrial and Organizational Psychology educational background to foster greater workplace inclusion. Her passion lies in comprehending people’s behavior at work, and she remains dedicated to expanding her knowledge as a first-generation expert and staying informed about the latest strategies to empower this population to thrive in their work environments.
